Beer and pizza… I love them both. Stouts, lagers, browns, IPAs. Cast iron deep-dish, take-out, pesto, marinara. But if I don’t see either for the next month, that’d probably be a good thing.

Seems to me that I need a certificate stating that I survived a week of Yosemite Facelift and El Portal’s Oktoberfest. I volunteered and picked up a lot of trash in the park, lost count of the number of beers I drank, maybe ate my body weight in pizza, socialized every night for a week, had long days and late nights and very little sleep, watched the premier of the amazing Reel Rock 8, listened to some great speakers, danced to some great local music.

Basically, I’m ready for a nap.

And if Congress doesn’t pass its budget by midnight tonight and we go through with the government shut-down, the park will close. Until we have a budget. During that time no one would be allowed in the park (except residents and emergency services – of which I’m neither at this point). All that sounds like it should add up to some serious naptime… but we have an office in El Portal and I’ve got enough deskwork and projects to keep me busy for a while.

Just one more exciting (noting that exciting doesn’t always have a positive connotation in my world) that’s going on in Yosemite.

So, I realize this isn’t the breakfast of champions, but this is what it took to get me through the last day of festivities:
