Weekend before last I hiked to the top of Gaylor Peak with Craig, Angie, and Eric. There’s not a designated trail up, we just hiked up the first part of the Gaylor Lakes trail to the ridge and continued up to the peak instead of dropping down into the lakes basin.
Awesome hike as you can see from the stunning scenery and made doubly so by my companions.
This hike did highlight my serious need for new hiking boots. I had an unusual slip coming down the trail… which cost me a little blood (don’t be concerned — I survived) and caused me to look (eventually) at the soles of my boots to see that they’ve been worn more than completely smooth. Yikes. I’ve hiked a lot of miles in the past year and half, I guess. I’m thinking about getting some Scarpas this go ’round. In the meantime, my Chacos (hiking sandals) are serving me very well. Up next that I’ve been up to are Mono Pass, Lembert Dome, Budd Lake, and Tuolumne Meadows…
